Everyone say hi to Hope from Saint Francis High School! Hope booked my exclusive destination senior session on the North Shore of Lake Superior this summer, and it was EPIC.
On the day of her shoot, I woke up and checked the weather. Everything looked great! As the day progressed, I noticed there was rain in the forecast all of the sudden. Luckily it looked like a passing storm that would not linger very long.
When I met Hope at our first location (a Marina), the storm was fast approaching! We quickly got in some amazing shots in her super cute jumpsuit from American Eagle (which by the way I knew would look perfect at this location!). We then drove to Palisade Head where we rode out the storm. After the storm cleared, there was literally NO ONE there. That NEVER happens! We had the place to ourselves and did we have FUN! Hope’s dress from Forever 21 was perfection at Palisade Head. The light blue really popped in front of the red/brown cliff faces, don’t you think?
After Palisade Head, we began driving further north and I saw the most perfect backlit road that looked perfect for shooting Hope’s urban outfit. I love how happy and edgy those images came out.
The last two locations were my absolute favorite, so forgive me for gushing about it…
3 days prior to Hope’s shoot, I was hiking with my daughter and I saw this old tree that suddenly spoke to me creatively. I just knew that I had to photograph Hope there in a red dress. I urgently texted Hope, asking if she had a red flowy dress (she didn’t). She was not reluctant at all to go in search of a red, flowy dress (totally last minute mind you)! Well, she definitely found the most PERFECT red flowy dress. I couldn’t have chosen a better dress! When Hope saw the tree, she instantly knew what I was envisioning. The images here are some of my favorites! We continued exploring and I literally had goosebumps the entire time. Hope’s red dress makes her pop off the screen because of the green surroundings.
The last location of the evening was down on the beach. I literally couldn’t have asked for a better location to end our session. The dark pebbly beach, the blue crashing waves, the red dress, and of course Hope’s adventurous spirit make this set of images EVERYTHING. Hope was even up for getting in the water at the end of her session. If you are not aware, Lake Superior is COLD!
