The Heiforts | Dellwood Barn Wedding Photographer

Meet the Heiforts. These college sweethearts are two of the kindest people I have ever met.

You might remember their engagement session from last Fall (hint, if you haven’t seen their lovely engagement session click HERE). When I first met them, I knew I would love working with them. They were so laid back and easy going. They just went with the flow – and that made my job so easy.

Fast forward to their wedding day. I was so excited to photograph their wedding at Dellwood Barn (one of my favorite venues!). Dellwood Barn is known for it’s lovely bride and groom suites, stunning views, beautiful outdoor ceremony location, intimate reception barn (complete with twinkle lights!), and of course horses.

When I arrived, Alex was so calm and made me feel so welcome. Ernie was chill and hanging with his guys. I always love documenting the “getting ready” portion of a wedding day, because there is so much energy in the air. The anticipation is high and the love story is about to be told.

Alex and Ernie’s first look was so incredibly sweet. The look on Ernie’s face when he saw Alex and the way he embraced her gave me chills. I loved how the bridesmaids were down below, watching the entire moment and how they cheered afterwards.

I always love photographing the bride and groom with the horses at Dellwood Barn. Alex and Ernie were up for it, so off we went went! The horses were hot, but one of them was kind enough to pose for some photos. Aren’t the images of Alex and Ernie with the horse adorable?

The ceremony portion of the wedding day was short but sweet. As friends and family gathered on the hill, Alex and Ernie exchanged their vows. Just look how happy they were after they said “I Do”!

Alex and Ernie had a delicious homestyle dinner catered by Famous Dave’s. It paired perfectly with their intimate family style wedding. In addition to the homestyle dinner, Alex and Ernie opted for an ice cream cart by The Street Treat Peddler instead of a wedding cake. I thought this was such a great idea and the guests loved it! Plus isn’t the bike adorable?

After dinner, the dance began. I always love photographing the first dances. The emotion of the day catches up with the couple and they just melt into each other. I also enjoy photographing the father/daughter, mother/son dances because the emotions from the parents always make me tear up. You can feel the love the parents have for their children.

As you know, the golden hour is my happy place. The time right before the sun dips below the horizon. We had a lot of clouds during the golden hour, but the sun cooperated for some amazing golden hour images. Although it was hot outside, Alex and Ernie were so gracious to allow me to capture them. The time away for golden hour images also provides the couple some quiet time to reflect on their day and exhale.

Alex and Ernie, I am so thankful that you chose me to photograph your love story. You are both so incredibly kind and generous. I wish you so much happiness in your new life as The Heifords.
