I am absolutely thrilled to share Derek and Kristine’s lovely church wedding and reception at the Lafayette Club in Wayzata.
When I first met with Kristine at our bridal consultation, I instantly liked her. She is extremely sweet and so friendly. We chatted about her relationship with her fiancee, Derek and how they were living a few hours apart until they settled into their lives, post college. Her face just lit up when she talked about him. I loved how she described their plans for their wedding and reception at the LaFayette Club in Wayzata. She envisioned a lovely affair with soft pastel accents and gorgeous flowers where their friends and family would come together and have fun.
I had so much fun working with Kristine and Derek at their engagement session last summer… we met at my home in Big Lake, where I whisked them off to my favorite secret location with an old oak tree. They brought along a little picnic basket and some Corona’s! They had an intimate picnic under the old oak tree and it was perfect.
On their wedding day, I arrived at Kristine’s parent’s home, and the energy was electric. Everyone was so happy and excited. I loved seeing Kristine’s dress hanging in her parents bedroom. Her Toms wedges were absolutely adorable, and how can I forget her childhood pet, Lona. Kristine had a first look with her dad before departing for her first look with her future husband. When Kristine’s Father came into the room, everyone got tears in their eyes. She is his only daughter, and he was just smitten.
Derek and Kristine’s first look at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum was so sweet. I could tell Derek was very anxious to see Kristine. He was so sweet! As they turned to look at eachother, I got goosebumps. They were both so emotional.
One of my favorite portions of the wedding day are the bridal portraits of just the couple. We roamed the grounds of the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum and I was so inspired by the gorgeous surroundings. I mean, it’s hard not to be! We literally walked throughout so many flowering gardens, it was so lovely. The white Viburnum’s were so fragrant. I was literally obsessed with them!
After the couple’s bridal portraits, we headed over to the church for the ceremony. The ceremony was so moving. They incorporated a lot of music and I just loved it.
When I arrived at the Lafayette Club I was blown away by it’s grandeur and beauty. As we opened the grand doors to the dining room, I was in awe of the room’s stunning beauty. The bride and groom chose such beautiful decorative details. From the adorable table setting cards, to the lovely floral arrangements by Chanhassen Floral. The event planning by Kismet Weddings and Events was so seamless. The candy bar and cupcake table were so whimsical as well.
Now for the speeches! I have never been a part of something so fun at a wedding before! The speeches by the best man and maid of honor were so sweet and humorous. Then the groom’s 3 sisters got up in front of the crowd and did a super fun song and dance that they made up just for the bride and groom. Everyone was clapping along and laughing. It was awesome! Then the bride’s dad got up and gave such a heartfelt speech. Everyone was so moved by his words. He also got out his guitar and sang a little ditty he wrote. I am actually humming it in my head as I write this!
I want to thank everyone who was involved in Derek and Kristine’s wedding day. It was so apparent how much they are loved.
