Meet Ashley, she is the owner of Creative Studio 23 https://www.creativestudio23.com/and Misty’s Mission Stables https://www.ashleymesserhorsemanship.com/#/

Ashley took part in the “We Rise Together” campaign and shared some valuable thoughts and tips for other business women.

My primary business is Creative Studio 23, a mobile fine arts studio. My secondary business is my Equine Education & Riding Lesson program, Misty’s Mission Stables.

Whatever you choose, make sure it’s something you’re really passionate about and willing to spend time doing. Make sure it’s aligned with what you love!

I’d say the professional artist challenges have been the hardest. Growing up I was always pushed to “make good money” and fine art was devalued. I originally pursued Graphic Design “for the money.” But I was not happy in that field! I started my own business and have been teaching part time for 17 years. I’m finally in a place in my life where I’m supposed to go back to school. I’m in a Masters of Art Education and teaching licensure program at Augsburg University.

I’ve been Vegan for 6 years now. Im also a huge nerd. I love Harry Potter, anything to do with dragons & fantasy, board games and occasional video games!

Be true to yourself. Find authentic people and business partners. Never settle. Keep aligned to your core values & beliefs.

I’m planning to graduate with my Masters and become a licensed teacher for the year 2026. I’d love to teach school art full time. However, if I have opportunities to have a leadership position within an arts organization, I would definitely consider it!

I was nominated by Missy Wilson with Royal Supply INC, Elk River. She’s amazing!

Be flexible. Things don’t always go as planned and you have to know how to pivot. 2020 was a giant pivot for my business.

I wanted to become more involved in art and teaching. I saw the need for art opportunities in more rural communities so I sought to create a business where I could offer that!!

Having a growth mindset. Even when things are really challenging (personal or business) I can always get ahead and make it to the other side better than I was before.

I actually had a book in the Eragon series change my life . I grew up catholic and didn’t feel comfortable with my church or the religion. The journey the main character when on gave me courage to step away from religion.

This one is difficult… I don’t think anyone can ever find ‘true balance.’ You just have to take ownership for everything. Your good sides and bad sides. Your love life. Your business. Your kids. If you cannot take responsibility for all aspects of your life, it will hurt your progress and ability to be authentic.

I also am on the board for a Non-Profit I founded, the Northern Women’s Business Collaborative . NWBC is dedicated to fostering meaningful connections while providing opportunities for mentorship and personal development to empower women owned businesses in Isanti, Cambridge and surrounding areas. We are here to help you in your business!
